A sleeping mixed-breed rescue dog
DETROIT (FOX 2): From the comfort of your own home, contribute to the slightly better lives of shelter pets.
Volunteers are needed to create enrichment kits for Friends of Detroit Animal Care and Control (DACC). Everything you need to manufacture toys and treats for animals in shelters is included in the supply kits; all you have to do is pick them up and take them home.
Dogs benefit from enrichment both emotionally and physically, especially those living in stressful shelter settings.
How to make enrichment kits
To assist, pick up a present at DACC, located at 1431 E. Ferry in Detroit.
Make a toy or treat according to the kit’s instructions, then give it back to DACC.
According to the animal sanctuary, this is an excellent family activity that is suitable for people of all ages.
