Walmart shopper demands answers after claiming retailer is ‘ruining the kids’ Christmas’ with delivery debacle

A WALMART customer has been left furious after a delivery mishap with some holiday items.

They claimed Christmas was nearly ruined for their children due to the issue.

Those making orders for merchandise that will be delivered during the holidays are asked at most retailers if the items are gifts.

Walmart and other companies do this to protect the surprise for the recipient, especially for young kids.

Instead of the gifts arriving in the packaging from the manufacturer, a Walmart box is placed around it so there are virtually no indicators as to what might be inside.

That way, should the recipient either accidentally or intentionally look, the surprise remains safe.

This seemingly wasn’t the case for a Walmart shopper who ordered gifts for their kids earlier in November.

“@Walmart do better guys especially if things are marked as a gift keep the stuff in a Walmart box…” they wrote in a post to X.

“Y’all are ruining the kids’ Christmas if they can see the gifts when delivered.”

Walmart quickly responded to the complaint, noting that there are some situations where a Walmart Box won’t be provided.

PLAY IT SAFE

“An item that can’t be packaged in a Walmart box will be shipped in its original manufacturer box, which may reveal the contents,” the retail giant’s official X account replied.

“Delivery from store and pickup items: no, these items won’t be packaged in a Walmart box, which may reveal the contents.”

Considering that information, Walmart customers should be very careful this holiday season when making gift orders.

It seems that some merchandise may not fit into the Walmart box depending on its size and manufacturer packaging, and using delivery or pickup through orders directly from customers’ local store will also not have the Walmart box.

Shoppers best bet is to get the gifts they need in-store to ensure the Walmart box is used, or make online orders through Walmart Marketplace.

The best method to insure Christmas gifts aren’t spoiled is by taking measures to hide the items or grab them quickly after delivery, as well.

PAYMENT PAINS

Many customers are still furious that the retail giant won’t accept Apple Pay.

Earlier this month, someone left their “whole cart at the register” with hundreds of dollars of groceries inside out of frustration.

They aren’t alone, as many cited similar experiences, and it’s been going on for months.

Walmart isn’t obligated to implement Apple Pay, and it won’t, because it directly competes with Walmart Pay, offered through its mobile application.

Walmart Pay is a similar format and allows customers to store all necessary payment methods for shopping in-store.

CEO Doug McMillion noted that its “one of the things ath we would like people to use our app for,” when asked about the Apple Pay debacle while speaking on Stratechery with Ben Thompson.

DEALS BEGIN

Walmart has also already released several holiday items this fall that are flying off shelves for low prices.

There are at least three decor pieces starting at $5 that some shoppers say are “all the rage.”

Why doesn’t Walmart offer Apple Pay?

CEO of Walmart Doug McMillon has revealed why stores don’t offer Apple Pay on Stratechery with Ben Thompson.

Though using Apple Pay at the retailer has been an ongoing conversation, McMillon emphasized that “We would like to have the customers open our app in the store all the time.”

The app can be used to help find items in the store, but it can also be used to pay for your purchases.
