Walmart shopper stopped in tracks over payment method issue – store policy ‘forced them to abandon trip for week’

After seemingly being forced to cancel their visit, a WALMART customer has pushed the retailer to alter its payment policy.

The unhappy client said they were forced to postpone their visit for an additional week.

According to a post on X, the customer couldn’t conceal their confusion after learning they had forgotten their wallet.

And it turned out to be an issue because Walmart does not let customers use Apple Pay to pay for purchases.

They told that I would not be able to return there for another week due to my schedule.

Additionally, the customer stated that they had no interest in using the chain’s in-house app as a substitute.

Another type of contactless payment is Walmart Pay.

Customers can use a QR code to pay for their purchases and enter their credit card information.

As an alternative, they can hover over a QR code that shows up on the self-checkout monitor using the camera on their smartphone.

A paper receipt is not sent to customers who use Walmart Pay to pay for their purchases.

Rather, all purchases are confirmed via email.

Although Walmart Pay is limited to the chain’s supermarkets, the feature allows customers to avoid bringing their credit cards.

Customers must use paper coupons at the register, but they can also add gift cards to their Walmart wallet on their phone.

One of the few stores that does not take Apple Pay is Walmart, and this has caused controversy.

Why doesn’t Walmart offer Apple Pay?

Doug McMillon, the CEO of Walmart, explained to Ben Thompson why Apple Pay isn’t available in shops.

While there has been constant discussion about utilizing Apple Pay at the business, McMillon stressed that “We would like to have the customers open our app in the store all the time.”

In addition to helping you find things in the store, the app allows you to pay for your purchases.

“That s one of the things that we would like people to use our app for,” he stated.

The CEO of the chain, Doug McMillon, spoke candidly about the company’s choice to forego implementing Apple Pay in hundreds of its locations.

McMillon promoted the chain’s app while acknowledging that discussions were still going on in an April interview with Strategy.

“I believe that in our situation, we would like to have customers constantly open our app in the store,” he stated.

Some employees who prefer to pay with their cell phones have been irritated by the choice, despite the company’s justification for not implementing Apple Pay.

Upon discovering that Walmart supermarkets do not accept the payment method option at checkout, many have been frustrated.

Some customers have become so enraged that they have responded by leaving their carts behind.

While some have pleaded with Walmart to adapt to the trends, the business has been humiliated for not implementing Apple Pay.
