Warrant Issued: Man Suspected of Shooting, Killing Ex-girlfriend’s New Partner

AUSTIN – According to court documents, the Travis County Sheriff’s Office filed an arrest warrant for a man who, according to deputies, shot and killed another guy at a pub in the southeast part of Travis County early on the morning of Friday, May 3.

According to the Texas County Sheriff’s Office, the homicide took place at a business situated in the 5600 block of South U.S. 183, which is close to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. An initial response was made by deputies to a call that was placed at approximately 12:25 a.m. for claims of a “disturbance involving a gun,” as stated in a news release. The individual was found dead in the parking lot, according to the deputies, and he had multiple gunshot wounds.

It was stated by the sheriff’s office that witnesses saw the person suspected of carrying out the shooting drive away from the site on U.S. 183 in a white Ford pickup truck with two doors and a toolbox in the bed of the truck. In addition, they issued photographs and a description, stating that he is Hispanic, in his 20s to 30s, and that he was last seen wearing a white short-sleeved polo shirt, trousers, white Nikes with a black swoosh, and a white ball cap over a blue durag.

In the affidavit that was submitted for the arrest warrant, the suspect was named as Cesar Marquez, who is 32 years old. An accusation of murder in the first degree has been brought against him.

A number of witnesses spoke with the deputies, and one of them was the victim’s girlfriend. She disclosed to the deputies that she had been dating the victim since January.

Following the affidavit, additional witness testimony disclosed that the victim and her girlfriend had a disagreement in the bar after the girlfriend had communicated with her ex-boyfriend, Marquez. According to the complaint, the victim then walked outside, and Marquez followed him. Shortly after that, the shooting took place in the parking lot.

After reviewing the surveillance footage from the bar and confirming the accusations made by the witnesses, the deputies were able to single out Marquez as the person responsible for the crime.

On May 7, a warrant was issued for Marquez’s arrest on a charge of murder in the first degree. According to the affidavit, his whereabouts are still unknown at this time.
