(FOX 2) Warren, Mich.Following reports of gunfire in Warren, a food delivery suddenly descended into violence. Both the driver and the client are being charged as of Monday.
We know:
On Sunday night on Republic Street, a DoorDash driver was taken into custody after reportedly drawing a gun on a customer and shooting it into the air.
“When a scenario doesn’t involve life or death, people bring a gun into it. “This is food,” Warren police Lt. John Gajewski remarked.
Chaviante Collier, 37, is accused by police of arguing with a customer regarding an order while she was delivering something.
Investigators said that once things became physical, she pulled out a revolver and shot it into the air.
“Bullets go up, which means they come down, and thankfully nobody got hit because obviously this would have been a far more tragic circumstance,” Gajewski stated.
In the meantime, the client was also taken into custody.
He called us after leaving the scene in his car. Among other things, he had multiple warrants for driving-related charges. Because he was clearly participating in this and added to the scene’s overall composition, he was also placed under arrest,” Gajewski explained.
Next steps:
A judge set the DoorDash driver’s bond at $7,500 cash surety on Monday.
“I just wanted to get my 13-year-old daughter to a safe place.” Collier stated in court, “I wish I had told her no, we couldn’t go DoorDash because we wouldn’t even be in this situation.”
