Water main break leaves two Dearborn Heights cars frozen in a thick layer of ice

Grandmother Cheryl Fritz of Metro Detroit took her two grandkids on a trip to Nashville, Tennessee, leaving their cars at her residence.

(FOX 2) Dearborn Heights, Mich.Southeast Michigan has seen frightening weather due to a deep freeze that has lasted for several days, making it perilous for anyone to be outside.

Two people in Dearborn Heights had their cars in the way of a water main break, and it did them no good.

The backstory

Grandmother Cheryl Fritz of Metro Detroit took her two grandkids on a trip to Nashville, Tennessee, leaving their cars at her residence.

The autos were totally covered in ice following Monday’s water main break and other vehicles splattering water.

A water main broke on the west side of Detroit, causing the street to flood and then freeze as the city experiences the coldest weather of the year.

Members of the DPW have been working diligently for days to liberate the two cars, according to Paul Vanderplow of the Dearborn Heights Office of the Mayor. In order to de-ice the vehicles, they intend to have them pulled out and to a warming facility.

Next steps:

The question of whether these automobiles will ever run again or continue to be car-cycles is still very much up in the air.
