Anabel s terrifying kidnapping

With the assistance of his friend Candida Ortiz Aon, Emilio Mu ez Guadix abducted Anabel on April 12, 1993.

At knifepoint, the two pulled her into their van as she was jogging through Madrid’s La Moraleja neighborhood.

The two did not want to abduct Anabel; they had come to the area with the goal of snatching someone.

A janitor who couldn’t read the van’s license plate saw Anabel being abducted, but he immediately called the police.

Anabel was taken hostage by Mu oz and Ortiz to a Toledo plant.

After attempting to flee, the university student was apprehended by her captors, who killed her and buried her close by.

In their ransom demands, Mu oz and Ortiz promised the 22-year-old’s freedom in return for 150 million Spanish pesetas, or almost two million euros.

Anabel’s family ultimately agreed to pay the ransom, but neither of her captors showed up at the scheduled meeting place.

Mu eza and Ortiz chose to go one step farther with their plan and delivered a tape recording of Anabel’s voice to Anabel’s relatives.

Later on, it was discovered that Felisa Garcia, Mu Oz’s wife, who was posing as Anabel, was the real owner of the voice.

The kidnappers were apprehended on September 28, 1995, after a Toledo citizen recognized Oritz’s voice on the audio and notified the police.
