What Should Be – Hell’s Kitchen Stores Targeted In Glass Door Vandalism Spree
DEBARYLIFE – Hell’s Kitchen businesses have been shaken by a string of break-ins; in 48 hours, the glass doors of three side street stores along 10th Avenue were shattered.
Police were dispatched to Seguidilla Bistro on W51st Street near 10th Avenue early on Wednesday morning after someone broke through the front glass door allowed an unidentified person to enter the restaurant. Just before five in the morning, authorities say, the person took about $100 from the register and went north on foot down 10th Avenue.
W42ST discussed the heist with Seguidilla’s owner, Adam Piron. “We received a call on Wednesday from an employee who discovered the front door was broken upon arrival.” While they conducted their investigation, police blocked off the area.
“When I first arrived, I noticed that the money in the cash register from the previous evening was the only item they had taken. Everything else was essentially in place. As far as I could tell, we still had our tablets and all the other items in the restaurant. Wednesday saw the Dominican bistro stay closed while the door was fixed.
Adam reported that this was the restaurant’s second break-in. A somebody broke the glass and took most of the tools and one of the blenders from the construction workers when they were remodeling the area before they opened.

The same night, at around 10:30 p.m., the front door of Totto Ramen on W51st Street was broken, but no one went inside. The police labeled that event as “criminal mischief,” the same label they applied to the broken windows at the Midtown South Precinct on W35th Street in April.
When an employee of New Cleaners on W49th Street arrived on Monday morning, they discovered that their front door had been broken. After watching security camera footage, police discovered that just before 4 a.m., an unknown person entered the store. Authorities claim that the man stole about $1,500 from the register before making off in an unidentified direction.
At this point, Adam is thinking about spending money to have roll-down shutters placed at his store. “We are reconsidering installing a gate because it has become necessary, but we didn’t want to put one in because we thought it would take away from the restaurant’s aesthetics,” he said.
