Following the heartless murder, the offender mounted a nearby e-bike and sped off in the direction of Central Park.

It was a “premeditated, preplanned, targeted attack” on the insurance CEO, according to police officials.

Authorities suspect that Brian was intentionally shot in the calf and back.

Brian was declared dead at a neighboring hospital despite the prompt efforts of police and emergency personnel to revive him.

Death threats

Following the shooting, Paulette disclosed that her husband had previously been threatened with death.

“Yes, there had been some threats,” she said to NBC News. Basically, a lack of coverage, I guess? Details are unknown to me.

“I just know that he said there were some people that had been threatening him” .

Additionally, a police source told The New York Times that Brian has received several threats and that authorities are looking into the specifics of their origin and character.

Paulette went on to say that Brian was committed to his career and had not expressed any worries about his safety in spite of these threats.

Suspect & investigation

The murderer is still at large as of December 5.

Photographs of the accused shooter have been made public by the New York Police Department (NYPD). He is a Caucasian man with a backpack and a hooded jacket. His face is partially hidden by a mask.

Security cameras caught the assault, capturing the attacker riding a hired electric bike and then calmly crossing the street after the gunshot.

Before the investigation was abandoned, the suspect was later seen in Central Park.

Jessica Tisch, the police commissioner, stressed that the murder seemed to be a deliberate assault rather than an incident of violence.

Investigators are still searching for the culprit based on information gleaned from the bike rental.

Although Paulette Thompson’s disclosure of the death threats has sparked speculation about possible links to problems with insurance coverage, the attack’s motivation is yet unknown.

Engraved bullets

According to police sources who spoke to the New York Post, the words “deny,” “depose,” and “defend” have been discovered on live rounds and shell casings, and the bullets may offer one clue.

Three live 9mm rounds and three discharged casings have been found by the NYPD, which is currently looking into the words.

According to insiders, there was a single phrase in several of the pieces of evidence that suggested the shooter might have been attempting to leave a message.
