Who is Children In Need host and stand-up comedian Chris Ramsey?

CHRISTOPHER “Chris” Ramsey is an English comedian who hosts the annual telethon Children in Need.

It was announced that the star would be returning for the 2024 edition of the fundraising event, which will coincide with Paddy McGuiness’ charity bike ride.

Meteoric rise to success

Chris was born on August 3, 1986, in South Shields, Tyne and Wear.

He began a career in comedy in 2007 when he hosted an open-mic night in Newcastle.

By 2010, he had a successful solo show named Aggrophobic which he took to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

His 2011 show Offermation was nominated for an award and broadcast on BBC Radio 4.

The star hit the big time in 2012 when his Feeling Lucky show grew into a national tour.

However, he was hit by a brief setback that same year when he was removed from Sky 1’s Soccer AM for using offensive language on air.

TV stardom

Jack was introduced to fans across the nation when he starred in BBC Two’s Hebburn, which was set in the titular town near to the comedian’s native South Shields.

He had a brief stint on I’m a Celebrity: Extra Camp alongside Joe Swash, Vicki Pattison and Stacey Soloman in 2016.

However, he was replaced by Joel Dommett just a year later.

Jack replaced Glee star Kevin McHale as the presenter of Virtually Famous in December 2016, before launching his own eponymous show on Comedy Central.

Shagged Married Annoyed

The star married Rosie Winter on July 25, 2014, and they have two sons together.

They both host a podcast named Shagged Married Annoyed, which eventually led to them going on a live tour.

Jack and Rosie also wrote a book to accompany the podcast, which was published on September 3, 2020.

Children in Need

Since 2020, Chris has hosted Children in Need alongside several celebrity presenters.

His list of co-presenters includes Alex Scott, Mel Giedroyc, Stephen Mangan and Graham Norton.

Between 1980 and 2023, the telethon has raised over £1 billion for disadvantaged children and young people in the UK.

The event is fronted by its iconic mascot Pudsey Bear, who was first introduced in 1995.

The 2024 edition of the telethon is being supported by Paddy McGuiness’ charity bike ride which raised over £1 million.
