Noa-Lynn van Leuven’s excellent Women’s Series performances guaranteed her a place at Alexandra Palace.

In the Women’s Series 21 final, she established a new average of 109.64 and defeated women’s world No. 1 Beau Greeves 5-3.

“It will be a significant accomplishment for me and my type of people,” stated Van Leuven. However, I suppose all I want is to be Noa.

All I want is to play darts without constantly having to discuss my gender identity.

Who is Noa-Lynn van Leuven?

Dutch darts player Noa-Lynn van Leuvenis was born on September 27, 1996, and participates in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) competitions.

She became the first trans woman to compete in a darts TV event in 2023.

Van Leuven joined the Women’s Series around the same time that she started her transition in 2022.

“Nothing in life will be truly wonderful while you’re not feeling well. After quitting darts, I became a happier version of myself, but I was eager to pick up the game once more.

“I made an effort to live life to the fullest. I underwent a lot of appointments with a psychologist before to transitioning.

Van Leuven is a chef de partie at her neighborhood restaurant in Heemskerk, a little hamlet west of Amsterdam, when she isn’t busy dominating the darts world.

Since you have a significant advantage unless you prove it’s not true, I believe it’s difficult for transgender persons to participate in sports, especially when others are aware of their gender identity.

She has also supported transgender individuals as a mediator.

What competitions has Noa-Lynn van Leuven won?

Van Leuven debuted to the PDC Women’s Series in 2022.

She advanced to the Women’s Series quarterfinals in events 13 and 14, losing to Laura Turner 4 3 and Beau Greaves 4 2.

Van Leuven, who started the 2023 Dutch Open as the 15th seed, advanced to the semifinals before falling to Aileen de Graaf.

More success came in March 2024 when Leuven defeated male competitors in a mixed event and went on to win the PDC Women’s Series.

In order to participate in women’s darts, Van Leuven has to pass rigorous transitioning exams.

According to the PDC’s regulating body, the Darts Regulation Authority, “Darts is open to all who wish to be involved in any capacity and we encourage all trans and non-binary participants to take part.”

Van Leuven has been able to participate in the sport she has developed a deep affection for as a result.

Additionally, she sympathizes with other sports that do not allow trans athletes to compete in the categories they choose to identify with.

“I feel devastated by the people that get hit by that,” she said to Sky Sports.

“I think it’s tough for transgender people to play sports, especially when people know that you’re trans because you have a big advantage until you prove it’s not.”

In addition, Van Leuven has spoken out about the death threats she received after her Dutch teammates declined to play with her.

Because they did not want to play with a trans woman, Dutch teammates Anca Zijlstra and Aileen de Graaf quit the national women’s squad in March 2024.

We all recall when my Dutch teammates pulled out, Van Leuvensaid say.

I received a lot of hateful responses on social media.

On the street, everybody knew who I was. The majority were excellent and very helpful.

However, how many of those death-threatening messages did I receive? Every day? Yes, during that time.

However, I will continue to play this game because I adore it.
