I entered the field of journalism for that reason. Why can’t I talk to the athletes if I’m not one of them?
I was actually reading more, writing more, and watching more when I was doing my undergraduate degree at Loughborough.
And to tell the truth, there weren’t many courses available when I finished that I would take after that.
I was fortunate to come upon a postgraduate course that allowed me to earn my NCTJ [National Council for the Training of Journalists] credentials.
Earlier this year, Paton discussed some of the challenges of performing in front of a boisterous crowd in an exclusive interview with SunSport.
“It’s really loud,” she said. On certain days, it’s just a wall of noise.
Sometimes I really can’t hear what John Part, Mark Webster, or Wayne Mardle are saying. The director is not even audible in my ear.
“I simply hope that not much has changed and that we are in agreement over running order.
“Working with Wayne has been beneficial to me; he has consistently supported me. He is among those who wish for the success of those around him.
“He is comparable to Sky Sports Darts’ Gary Neville. His anecdotes are absurd, his analysis is unmatched, and he is incredibly captivating.
