DETROIT (FOX 2):In the case of Daniel Williams, who was shot and died on Detroit’s east side six years ago, family members continue to hope for justice.

After leaving the El Capri Lounge to answer a phone call, the 40-year-old father of three turned to see who it was. He heard someone shout his name. After that, he was shot multiple times in the chest and head.

Near the intersection of East Grand Boulevard and Mr. Elliot, his body was discovered lying in the street.

Williams, Daniel

Everybody has a history. He had a history.According to his brother Hassan Williams, “your past does not define who you are to date or justify someone taking your life.”

On the early morning of August 20, 2018, Daniel, who frequently handled security at El Capri, was off from work and simply hanging out with pals.

Hassan, Daniel’s older brother and one of the youngest of 10 children, claims that many friends and family adored him. And on this two-year anniversary of his death, photographs were released that may shed more light on what happened. A hat found at the crime scene is depicted in the pictures.

“The hat is of a person who was at the scene when it happened. The man is not a suspect; he dropped his hat. I’ll say it again: he is not a suspect. Hassan stated that the DPD views him as a material witness rather than a suspect.

Williams is a volunteer for Crime Stoppers, which he founded prior to Daniel’s murder, which is an odd irony. He never thought he would be talking about finding his own brother’s killer during a Crime Stoppers press conference.

“I’m not here to criticize the murderers or my brother’s killer. Threatening you is not why I am here. I want to talk to you. I’m asking for a conversation with you, and the conversation I want to have with you is one in the hall of justice.”
