Windows stops updates for Assassin’s Creed and Star Wars players after continued game crashes

The most recent version of Windows 11 has irritated hundreds of players with frequent game breakdowns.

As soon as Microsoft started releasing the Windows 11 24H2 update in October, users started to have problems with their games.

The update had an impact on a number of Ubisoft library titles, including recent releases and games from the Assassin’s Creed series.

Recently released Ubisoft titles, such as Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Star Wars Outlaws, were either crashing or failing to launch when people opened them.

After discussing the problem on social media, they discovered that other people were having similar problems.

Microsoft has put a hold on Windows 11 updates for PCs running specific Ubisoft titles in response to user complaints.

The whole list of games is as follows:

  • Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
  • Assassin’s Creed Origins
  • Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
  • Star Wars Outlaws
  • Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora

Microsoft clarified: “You may experience problems with certain Ubisoft games after downloading Windows 11, version 24H2.

“These games may stop responding while they load, start, or while you’re actively playing. Users may occasionally get a black screen.

With version 24H2, Ubisoft has published a hotfix for Star Wars Outlaws that will temporarily resolve these problems.

This is not a long-term solution, though, as Ubisoft cautions that Windows 11 users may encounter performance problems.

Those who have already downloaded the 24H2 update are encouraged by Windows to go back to the previous OS version.

Closed Windows

I can speak from experience when I say that I fear Windows 11 updates since they always seem to ruin my machine.

To get rid of these updates, I’ve had to do factory resets multiple times, which has rendered my machine inoperable for the day.

These problems are unlikely to have been anticipated by Ubisoft, and I’m happy that Microsoft has put a hold on upgrades for these people.

Even if the most recent updates have caused problems for their machine, most Windows users are only able to delay updates for a maximum of six weeks.

Depending on your Windows 11 experience, this news has convinced me to buy and download Assassin’s Creed only for this benefit.
