Winter weather freezing Michigan: Subzero wind chill numbing the state this week

chilly morning with temps in the single digits and wind chills below zero! There won’t be many snow showers today, and there may be some minor accumulation. Wednesday morning is the coldest day of the week, and we remain extremely chilly throughout the middle of the week!

(FOX 2):For the next three days, Michigan will be in the area that seems like it’s blowing out of the Arctic due to the week-long forecast and the snow that is expected to arrive Monday night.

Until Wednesday, a Cold Weather Advisory is in effect for the majority of Michigan’s eastern region, which includes all of metro Detroit. Any time spent outside will be dangerous for individuals who are not prepared due to the frigid climate.

Winter Weather

Overview:

A Cold Weather Advisory was issued by the National Weather Service for counties in the eastern half of Michigan, including Livingston County.

With the wind blowing, temperatures might drop by as much as 20 degrees below freezing. Even if there will be brief respites during Tuesday’s day, the temperature will still feel below zero.

Late at night will be the worst.

According to the National Weather Service, there is also a chance of snowfall Monday evening, with as much as half an inch of snow falling by Tuesday morning.

Timetable:

Over the course of the three days, temperatures will vary from 9 to -1 degrees. On Wednesday, the Cold Weather Advisory will remain in effect until noon.


  • Monday temperatures will fall to 7 degrees with wind chill conditions bottoming out at 8 degrees below zero

  • Tuesday temperatures will look similar, maxing out at 7 degrees in the middle of the day. By midnight, temperatures will feel as cold as 14 degrees below zero

  • Wednesday will start below zero degrees before hitting around 8 degrees by midday

The snowfall is predicted to begin at approximately 4 p.m. on Monday and end by 6 a.m. on Tuesday.

Perhaps this weekend will be the next time temperatures in southeast Michigan rise above freezing.

Anyone whose skin is exposed for more than half an hour during the coldest temperatures runs the risk of developing frostbite.
