Wisconsin Driver Arrested Following Pursuit, Deputy Injured After Crashing Into House While Responding
Authorities in Wisconsin say a constable was hurt Monday evening after colliding with a house while responding to a pursuit that culminated in the arrest of one individual.
According to a release from the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, at 4:58 p.m., officers from the Juneau County Sheriff’s Office informed Dodge County officials that a car driven by a man on a felony warrant had entered the county.
Deputies promptly rushed to the scene and pursued the vehicle in question. The automobile fled towards the city of Waupun before coming to a stop on its own. Harvey Cox, 58, of Wonewoc, was detained without further incident on a felony warrant for escaping his jury trial in Juneau County, as well as probable charges of deliberately fleeing an officer and two counts of felony bail jumping.
At 5:03 p.m., while attempting to respond to and aid with the pursuit, a deputy apparently lost control of his own car on a rain-soaked roadway near the intersection of State Highway 68 and County A in Fox Lake.
According to officials, the squad car exited the road and smashed into a nearby residence. The constable appeared to have sustained minor injuries, and no one else was wounded in the event.
There is currently no other information available about the crash, and the Fox Lake Police Department is conducting an investigation.
