Woman Dies in Prison While Serving Life for 1991 Second-Degree Murder Conviction

ANSON COUNTY, North Carolina

Anson Correctional Institution staff reported that a woman serving a life sentence passed away this week in her cell.

Tuesday morning, Eva McNair was discovered unconscious in her cell. When EMS personnel came, correctional staff attempted to assist her; however, Anson Correctional staff said that she was pronounced dead approximately half an hour after she was discovered unconscious.

She was convicted in 1991 of second-degree murder and was given a life sentence.

According to officials, there is no suspicion of foul play in her death.
