Woman knocked unconscious during carjacking in parking lot of Ferndale bar

(FOX 2) FERNDALE, Mich.Outside a pub early on Thursday, a man is accused of stealing a car and knocking a woman out.

Just after midnight, two women were reportedly leaving New Way Bar on Woodward Avenue when Bryan Marks, 40, allegedly blocked their exit by standing behind their car, according to the police. Before striking the driver, he claimed they had almost collided with another car.

When the passenger arrived to assist, he allegedly knocked her out. Marks escaped in the victims’ car while the driver attended to the injured passenger.

Officers attempted to intercept the stolen vehicle when they saw it driving north on Woodward. But Marks persisted until he attempted to turn onto Greenleaf from Woodward and collided with bushes outside a gas station. After crashing, he attempted to escape on foot but was apprehended.

Marks faces one charge of operating without a license, two counts of carjacking, and one count of evading police. A $500,000 cash bond was imposed for him.
