Xbox announces Developer Direct showing gameplay for four games launching this year

A Developer Direct featuring four Xbox titles this year has just been announced by XBOX.

Xbox Developer Directs are lengthy presentations including a small number of titles, in contrast to Nintendo Directs and State of Plays.

At a Developer Direct, each game receives a thorough analysis featuring details from the developers and in-depth gameplay previews.

Three of the titles that will be shown at the Direct have previously been revealed by Xbox, but there will also be a fourth mystery game.

A previously unknown fifth game has made an appearance during prior Developer Directs.

We won’t know until Xbox’s January Direct goes live, but that might occur.

The January Xbox Developer Direct is scheduled for Thursday, January 23, 2025, if you would like to view it yourself.

It will start at 10 a.m. PT, 1 p.m. ET, and 6 p.m. GMT because it will be broadcast simultaneously throughout the world.

If you are unable to attend the showcase in person, don’t worry; it will be made accessible as a video on demand (VOD) on Xbox’s official YouTube channel immediately following the conclusion of the show.

As of right now, we know that more details about Doom: The Dark Ages will be available when the showcase opens.

Since its initial announcement at the Xbox Games Showcase in June 2024, the prequel to Doom (2016) has remained silent.

We learned that the game will be released in 2025, but no more details were provided at the time.

The January Developer Direct is expected to provide the first in-depth look at the gameplay.

The developers of Contrast and We Happy Few’s new game, South of Midnight, will be shown during the Direct.

Situated in the Deep South and brimming with Southern folklore, it combines a distinctive narrative with a very distinctive visual aesthetic.

Players anticipate learning the release date at the Developer Direct, even though we’ve already seen a good amount of this game when it was first shown back in 2023.

We now know that Claire Obscur: Expedition 33 will be the last game to be featured at the showcase.

It was also revealed in June of last year and is another game that will be released this year with a mid-2025 release timeframe.

A turn-based role-playing game, Expedition 33 draws inspiration from well-known Japanese series such as Persona and Final Fantasy.
