Zoo keeper, 52, killed in horror tiger attack as beast ‘bit him on the head after he forgot to close cage door’

After a staff member entered the cage and was bitten on the head by the tiger, the zookeeper was killed in a terrifying attack.

The 52-year-old zookeeper from Pitesti Zoo, which is located 60 miles from Bucharest, Romania, was brutally mauled this morning and died just a few minutes later.

The keeper reportedly disregarded security protocols and went inside the cage when it was too risky to do so.

Since the unnamed zoo keeper had been employed there for a number of years, little is known about why he entered the cage at that precise moment.

Following the terrible case, the police and prosecutors launched an investigation.

Pitesti City Hall representatives told The Sun Online: The worker responsible for cleaning the premises went into the tiger’s cage without following the security protocols.

To be more specific, the worker had to remove the tiger from the cage using a safety door after cleaning it in a yard that was surrounded by a high fence.

“But the worker did not respect that measure, he forgot to close the safety door, the tiger entered back in his cage and bite him from the head.”
