Man Wanted for Store Robberies Involving Fire Extinguisher, Police Search Underway

Washington, D.C.  – The Metropolitan Police Department said that during a string of robberies, a man has been spraying customers inside convenience stores with a fire extinguisher.

The person thought to be involved in the robberies is being sought after by police.

An individual entered a convenience store located in the 3000 block of 14th Street in Northwest, D.C., at approximately noon on April 23, according to police, and sprayed fire extinguisher chemicals at the staff. After robbing the cash register, the individual allegedly exited the establishment, according to the police.

Police claim that on April 18, the same individual entered another convenience store located in Northwest Washington, D.C.’s 1700 block of Columbia Road and sprayed a fire extinguisher at a worker. Once more, the thief stole cash from the register before walking out of the business.

A fire extinguisher was sprayed at multiple people inside a convenience shop located in the 5200 block of 3rd Street in Northeast D.C. before the person robbed the cash register, according to police reports dated April 17, at approximately 12:45 a.m.

According to police, the same individual entered a convenience shop in Northeast, D.C.’s 300 block of Hawaii Avenue at roughly 6:30 a.m. on April 15, stole some merchandise, and proceeded to the cash register.

After spraying the employee with a fire extinguisher, according to the police, he stole the cash register and other valuables.
