Tragic Big Loss! 17-Year-Old Fatally Shot By ‘Friends’ In Sanford Drug Deal Mishap

SANFORD, FLORIDA – The Sanford Police Department’s Deputy Chief Trekelle Perkins revealed during a news conference on Tuesday afternoon that 17-year-old Sadarion Cosby was shot and killed by his “friends” following a narcotics deal gone awry in Sanford earlier this month.

The information was released around three weeks after the adolescent was shot on April 9 near the intersection of Ellen Place and Scott Drive and died.

According to investigators, Cosby approached a black Kia K5 with his “friends” to conduct a fictitious “drug exchange.”

As they attempted to reach into the car to rob the driver, one of Cosby’s group members—later identified as 21-year-old Terrell Walker—pulled out a revolver, according to Perkins. When Cosby was leaning on the car window, the driver of the Kia pulled out his own gun and fired one shot, hitting Cosby in the belly.

According to the police, the driver of the Kia shot his gun out of panic while being robbed.

All of this was captured on camera from multiple perspectives, according to the police. Here is the video for you to watch:

Following the gunfire, Cosby’s entourage departed the area. After being brought to the hospital by other people, Cosby passed away from his wounds.

“The seventeen-year-old man passed away. In an earlier statement, Police Chief Cecil Smith stated, “His ‘friends,’ and I use that term loosely, ran rather than staying and helping him.” “They did not stay to help law enforcement identify and locate the person or people who took his life, nor did they assist him in receiving the emergency medical care he needed.” Not acceptable.

One of Cosby’s “associates” is under arrest, another is out on the run, and the third is still unidentified.

The detainee was accused of attempted firearm robbery and second-degree criminal murder. When Walker, the second suspect who is still at large, is apprehended and brought in, he will be charged with the same offenses for allegedly returning fire on the Kia driver while he was fleeing the scene.

To find Walker and identify the third suspect, police are requesting assistance from the public. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Sanford Police Department or call 800-423-TIPS, Crimeline.

Due to public records regulations, the identity of the Kia driver will not be disclosed, according to the police. Perkins stated that he doesn’t think the driver is a youngster but rather an adult.

Shankeena Lemon, Cosby’s mother, stated that the family is inconsolable.

“I’m upset. I’m depressed and hurt. She had earlier said to FOX 35, “I can’t eat, I can’t sleep, none of that.

Information on two drive-by shootings in the vicinity, one of which was also on Scott Drive, was made public by Sanford police on Monday. At the time, according to Public Information Officer Biana Gillett, there wasn’t enough evidence to connect these instances to Cosby’s shooting.

According to police, patrols in several Sanford “hotspot” areas—including Scott Drive—will be stepped up.

“Too many times, families have to bury loved ones at an early age because of senseless violence on our streets,” Perkins stated. “The Sanford Police Department will not stand for it. “Enough is enough.”
