Update Here! Mike Rogers’ Florida Voter Registration Cancelled, How Will They Do Now

DEBARYLIFE – Former U.S. Representative Mike Rogers (R-White Lake) has been officially removed from the Florida voting records, according to election officials, more than nine months after he registered to vote in Michigan.

One of four Republicans vying for the Republican nomination for Michigan’s U.S. Senate seat, which will become available upon the retirement of Democrat Debbie Stabenow, Rogers has come under fire from rival politicians for being a “carpetbagger” following inquiries about his true residence brought up by the Michigan Advance’s reporting in January.

Despite having grown up in Livingston County, where he served as a representative for six years in the Michigan Senate and fourteen years in the U.S. House of Representatives, Rogers eventually moved into a $1.7 million, 4,751-square-foot home in Cape Coral, Florida.

His official residence up until last year, when he decided to run for the U.S. Senate, is the house he still owns. In mid-April, it was revealed that Rogers was still registered to vote at his Cape Coral home. However, according to his campaign, local officials had not yet responded to a request Rogers had made for his name to be removed from the Florida voter registers.

Michael J. Rogers is not a voter in Lee County, Florida as of [Monday]. Maybe Bonachea, the director of voter registration for Lee County, stated, “We received the Cancellation Form required for him to be removed.

In the meantime, Rogers continues to reside in Genoa Township, close to Brighton, at his sister-in-law’s house, where he also registered to vote in August 2023. In line with his campaign, Rogers is residing there while a new residence is built on land in White Lake Township that he and his spouse, Kristi, paid $295,000 for in July of last year.

On the lot at the time of the purchase was a 728-square-foot, one-bedroom house. But as of last week, a new house was being constructed in its place, and the old one had been destroyed.

In the GOP primary on August 6, Rogers—who has the endorsement of former President Donald Trump—will compete against former Representative Justin Amash (I-Cascade Twp.), doctor Sherry O’Donnell, and businessman Sandy Pensler.

Actor Hill Harper, businessman Nasser Beydoun, and U.S. Representative Elissa Slotkin (D-Holly) have filed on the Democratic side.
