Major Hamilton, 45, KILLED in Drive-by Shooting; Police Ask for Public’s Help
Burlington County police are seeking the public’s assistance as they investigate a drive-by shooting that killed a Willingboro man Tuesday evening. The family of Major Hamilton, 45, believes he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Latisha Baker, Hamilton’s 17-year-old girlfriend, spoke with Action News on Thursday, still grieving over his death. “He was a good person. “He was a good father, and he loved children,” Hamilton said. She mentioned that he was going out with a friend that night.
“He said, ‘Today is his birthday, I’m going to have a drink with him and I’ll be back.'” And it was the last time we communicated,” Baker added, describing Hamilton as a “homebody” who rarely went out.

According to the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office, the incident took place outside the Diamond Dogz social club on John F. Kennedy Way. Around 9:15 p.m., investigators say a dark-colored vehicle drove slowly past the club, firing multiple shots into the throng outside.
Hamilton was shot in the chest and died in hospital. Investigators have not confirmed whether the victim was the intended target of the shooting.
“Someone in the public knows something about what happened that evening, and we want them to come forward. “They can come forward anonymously and provide any tip they want,” said Patrick Thornton, chief of detectives for the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office. Nyasia Hamilton, Hamilton’s 24-year-old daughter, is frustrated by the gun violence.
“Without that weapon, this would not have occurred. “This would not have happened if it hadn’t been used recklessly and irresponsibly,” she said. She will miss his direct and assertive demeanor and hopes that anyone who witnessed anything will speak up.
“He had a place to call home. “There were children who loved him,” she explained. “And I feel like if — man or woman — if you were to put yourself in those types of shoes, you should be able to understand.”
There have been no arrests made.
