Community Shocked: Dothan Man’s Death Rattles Residents After Body Found in Lake
Jackson County, Florida – An investigation into the death of a Dothan man at Compass Lake is underway by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
James D. Knowles, 71, was the casualty, according to Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission PIO Faith Flawn. There is no official cause of death available.
According to reports, Tuesday morning just before noon, a resident of Compass Lake discovered Knowles’ body drifting close to his boat in the lake.

Knowles was reportedly diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease by his lakeside neighbors.
Sheriff’s deputies from Jackson County arrived on the scene. However, since Knowles was discovered in the water, Fish and Wildlife was given custody of the case.
