Singh PLEADS GUILTY in DRUNK DRIVING Case, Sentenced to Two Years for Injuring Trooper

Indianapolis — A guy will serve two years in jail after hitting an Indiana State Police trooper while driving drunk in January.

Armaandeep Singh entered a plea deal in the incident that left Trooper Azariah Keith in the hospital with severe pelvic and leg injuries.

Singh got three years of his sentence suspended and will serve two years on probation. His license will also be suspended for two years after his release from prison. The crash occurred around 9:15 p.m. on January 20. Keith was helping someone fix a flat tire on the side of the road. As Keith was putting away the equipment, an SUV swerved and collided with the trooper.

Court filings suggest Singh may have been drinking on the job. Singh informed police that he was driving for DoorDash and had stopped for beer in between deliveries. He claimed he only drank one beer, but the breathalyzer test, which read 0.161, proved he was more than double the legal limit of 0.08.

Singh’s eyes were unfocused and bloodshot, and his breath smelled strongly of alcohol.

When officers examined Singh’s car, they discovered one empty bottle in the front passenger seat and five full bottles. There were a few other beer bottle tops in the car. Investigators discovered that Singh was driving his girlfriend’s SUV. She informed authorities that Singh was homeless and had been living in her SUV for two weeks.

She asked troopers if the crash would have an influence on Singh’s green card application. She also informed investigators that Singh spent roughly a year in California before moving to Indiana, where he has remained for the past seven months.

Singh was charged with two charges of inflicting serious bodily injury by driving while intoxicated and one count of reckless driving resulting in bodily harm. He merely pled guilty to one charge of causing serious bodily injury while driving while intoxicated under the terms of the plea deal.
