Alert! San Francisco Man Accused of Semi-Truck Theft Leads Petaluma Police on Pursuit

Debarylife – Authorities said that a man from San Francisco who they believe was operating a stolen semi-truck in Petaluma led them on a pursuit before being taken into custody on Thursday evening.

Officers from the Petaluma Police police responded to a complaint of a stolen semi truck with a 40-foot trailer near North McDowell Boulevard and Professional Drive at 9:26 p.m., the police said in a Nixle alert.

Officers attempted to pull over the driver of the truck, subsequently identified as San Francisco resident Glenn Hopkins, 41, after they saw it traveling north on North McDowell Boulevard at Transport Way.

Still, Hopkins reached a top speed of thirty to thirty-five miles per hour.

He lost control of the truck and swerved over the road, hitting the center median and causing a serious risk to public safety, according to the alert. Later, at the Corona Road roundabout, he would run over a curb, a sidewalk, a tree, and a road sign.

Hopkins proceeded southward on Sonoma Mountain Parkway before turning onto Colombard Road and stopping, according to the police.

He was apprehended without any additional incident and lodged into the Sonoma County jail on suspicion of felonies for possessing a stolen car, fleeing from a police officer with reckless disregard for safety, and misdemeanor hit-and-run resulting in property damage.
