Arizona Teen Allegedly Shoots Father, Fled Scene in Stolen Car, Arrested in Kingman

An Arizona teenager has been arrested and charged with the murder of his father, Joshua Lee Goldman.

According to police accounts, the incident happened shortly before 4 p.m. at 66th Avenue and Delmonico Lane, south of Olive Avenue in Glendale.

Officers arrived at the site and discovered Joshua Lee Goldman, 39, inside the home with several gunshot wounds. Despite urgent medical assistance, Goldman died from his injuries shortly after being brought to the hospital.

Goldman’s daughter, who was there during the incident, stated that she was arguing with her father when the teenage suspect, her brother, intervened and opened fire.
The daughter stated she was on the other side of a locked door and did not see the actual shooting. Goldman’s father, who was also in the house at the time, recalled hearing the dispute followed by gunfire but did not witness the events.

Both eyewitnesses reported that the suspect fled the scene with a buddy, leaving the house in Goldman’s Toyota Camry. A Ring doorbell camera caught footage of the two adolescents racing out of the house, with the friend asking the suspect, “Did you get the gun?” to which the suspect replied, “Yeah.”

Law enforcement was able to trace the stolen vehicle as it approached Las Vegas. The Arizona Department of Public Safety was alerted, and state troopers located the Camry at 7 p.m. in Kingman, some 170 miles from the crime scene. A high-speed chase occurred, with speeds reaching up to 130 mph before a trooper used a Grappler device to stop the automobile.

The 14-year-old suspect was taken into custody while still wearing an empty holster around his waist.

A 9mm handgun was later retrieved from the Camry’s floorboard. During interrogation, the youngster stated that he and his sister lived in Nevada with their father and were visiting their grandfather in Glendale for the summer.

The suspect said that his father, who had gone missing for more than a day, arrived at the house “visibly intoxicated” on the day of the incident. He stated Goldman started yelling at his sister, demanding her phone, and even beating her.

The teen claimed he yelled at his father to stop, but Goldman came out of the bedroom and reached for the revolver on his belt, leading the teen to draw his own firearm and shoot.

However, the suspect’s sister and a friend refuted several of his statements. The sister admitted to the fight over the phone but denied that Goldman hit her. She acknowledged that her father appeared to be under the influence of narcotics at the time. The companion also said he didn’t see Goldman grab for his gun before the adolescent opened fire.

The 14-year-old suspect is charged with second-degree murder and minor in possession of a handgun. Authorities have not yet determined whether the person who accompanied the suspect would face charges.

The unfortunate incident has left the Glendale, Arizona community and the victim’s family to deal with the heartbreaking ramifications of this family tragedy. As the inquiry proceeds, questions remain about the exact intentions and circumstances behind the fatal shooting, as well as the impact on everyone involved.
