Criminal Guy! Daytona Beach Man Arrested In Connection To Overdose Death After Home Raid
DAYTONA BEACH, Florida – The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office investigated a Daytona Beach residence.
A search warrant for the house at 634 Aberdeen Street was acquired by the sheriff’s office. Jerod Bennett,34, was taken into custody early on Tuesday.
Bennett is reported to have supplied heroin to a Port Orange lady who overdosed on it, according to Sheriff Mike Chitwood.
“We had a hard time tracking down who she bought from because her cell phone was locked, and nobody had the PINs,” according to him. “We needed some time to enter the building. Bennett became a suspect as soon as we were inside. A surveillance was placed on him.”
After securing a search warrant, the sheriff’s office entered the house and discovered more than 30 grams of cocaine and fentanyl in addition to amphetamine/dextroamphetamine pills.
To get individuals like Bennett off the streets, Chitwood and his team are putting in a lot of effort.

“We probably do 60 to 70 warrants a year, search warrants a year, just drug warrants,” the deputy stated. That brings the total number of dealers to 100. Not to mention the low-level operations on the streets or the car stop where the guy is found with a pound or two of heroin or fentanyl inside.”
The nearly 20% drop in overdose deaths in the county this year compared to the previous can be partially attributed to this approach.
Regarding Bennet, he is charged with multiple offenses, such as trafficking in cocaine, and fentanyl, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, renting a building for drug trafficking, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
As of right now, Bennet is being held without bond at the Volusia County Jail.
