Fatal Shootings in Kentucky: Who Shot Whom?

A Russell Springs woman shot and killed her sister before killing her brother, who then fatally shot her in Russell County on Friday, according to Kentucky State Police.

A guy in Pulaski County was found dead of a gunshot wound in a separate shooting, authorities said.

According to a local funeral director, the victim was the spouse of the woman who had shot her brothers. Authorities have not confirmed the information.

“She shot her husband first,” Daniel Wilson, director of Wilson Funeral Home, told the Herald-Leader on Saturday. “The investigation is very much ongoing,” Pulaski County Coroner Clyde Strunk said Saturday. “It’s still very raw.”

The investigation began around 6:30 p.m. Friday in Pulaski County, when the sheriff’s office was notified of a shooting victim on Brown Ridge Road, according to a news release from the sheriff’s department.

When officers arrived, they discovered “a male victim lying beside the road approximately 200 feet from his residence, deceased from what appeared to be a gunshot wound,” sheriff officials stated. Wilson identified the individual as Larry V. Gosser, a retired Kentucky Fish and Wildlife official.

According to Kentucky State Police, at about 7 p.m., Pulaski County 911 operators requested assistance in locating a Ford F-150 driven by Angela Gosser, 56, of Russell Springs.

Wilson said that Angela and Larry Gosser were married.

At 7:24 p.m., Russell County 911 operators requested that state police come to a shooting at Darryl Wilson’s residence in Jamestown, where they discovered he and Angela Gosser shot.

Darryl Wilson is Gosser’s brother, according to a state police news release.

In the early phases of the investigation, state police detectives claimed in a Saturday press release that they suspect Gosser entered Wilson’s residence on South Ky. 619 and forced her way inside with a revolver.

According to state investigators, Gosser and Wilson exchanged gunfire and were both shot.

Wilson was brought to the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital for life-threatening injuries, according to state police. The Russell County coroner ruled Gosser dead on the scene, authorities said.

While at Darryl Wilson’s residence, state police were asked to do a welfare check on Gosser’s sister, Jennifer Wilson, 57, of Russell Springs. Relatives told police that they had been unable to contact her and were concerned for her safety.

State police and Russell County sheriff’s deputies responded to Hammond Road in Russell Springs, where they discovered Jennifer Wilson fatally shot in the driver’s seat of a Toyota Camry that was partially off the road.

According to state police, before going to her brother’s residence, Gosser shot multiple rounds into the passenger side of a vehicle her sister was driving, wounding her in the head.

“They’ve always been close to our family, and it’s an honor to serve them,” he added. On Saturday afternoon, Strunk declined to identify the 73-year-old man discovered dead in Pulaski County.

He also did not specify whether the man was a family relation of Gosser, Jennifer Wilson, or Darryl Wilson. Strunk stated that the man’s body was brought to Frankfort for an autopsy.

The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office is handling the case involving the 73-year-old man.

“These shooting investigations are preliminary, but Sheriff (Bobby) Jones wants everyone to know that there is no further danger to the public,” the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office said.
