Federal Judge SENTENCES Indianapolis Man to 20 YEARS for Crossing State Lines with Intent to Engage in Sexual Activity
BENTON, Ill. – An Indiana man was sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to a charge of traveling with the purpose to engage in unlawful sexual activity.
The United States Attorney’s Office Southern District of Illinois (USAOSDI) announced that Diego A. Montes-Roldan, 27, of Indianapolis, was sentenced to 20 years in prison by a federal judge in southern Illinois after admitting to crossing state lines with the intent to engage in sexual activity with a minor.

Montes-Roldan will be released from prison on supervised parole for the rest of his life, according to USAOSDI.
“Predators are actively looking for victims online, but early detection by parents and strong law enforcement can help to protect children,” said U.S. Attorney Rachelle Aud Crowe. “The U.S. Attorney’s Office is proud to work with our partners to help keep children safe.” Montes-Roldan faces a charge for texting chats with two 14-year-old victims via social media, according to court filings.

“The FBI prioritizes protecting our most vulnerable and, in this case, combined law enforcement efforts saved young victims from irreparable harm,” said FBI Springfield Field Office Acting Special Agent in Charge Joe Rodriguez. “This sentence puts Montes-Roldan behind bars for a significant amount of time and prevents further exploitation of innocent children.”
Law authorities apprehended Montes-Roldan in October 2021 after receiving reports of talks between him and one of the juveniles.
