Jennifer Garner Pays Tribute to Father William Garner: ‘Kind and Brilliant’
Debarylife – Following her father William “Bill” Garner’s passing at the age of 85, Jennifer Garner posted a sorrowful homage to him: “Grief is unavoidable.”
There is no longer a patriarch in Jennifer Garner’s family.
William “Bill” Garner, the former cast member of Alias, passed away quietly on March 30 at the age of 85.
She shared pictures of Bill over the years on Instagram on April 1 and wrote, “We were with him, singing Amazing Grace as he left us (did we carry him across or scare him away—valid question).” “While there is no tragedy in the death of an 85-year-old man who lived a healthy, wonderful life, I know grief is unavoidable, waiting around unexpected corners.”
She now decides to remember their father’s “gentle demeanor and quiet strength” as a way to respect him along with her two sisters.
“For how he teased with a mischievous smile, and for the way he invented the role of all in, ever patient girl dad,” she wrote in her letter. “We are grateful for his work ethic, leadership, and faith.”

After expressing her gratitude to the medical staff for tending to her father, Jennifer continued, saying that her dad was “surrounded by daughters and grandchildren,” referring to her and her ex-partner Ben Affleck’s children Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12.
“There is so much to say about my dad—my sisters and I will never be done talking about how wonderful he was, so bear with us,” the star of 13 Going on 30 stated, “but for today I share these memories with my appreciation for the kind and brilliant man, father, and grandfather he was, as well as the loving legacy he left behind.”
Almost three months have passed since Bill and Patricia English Garner celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. Jennifer celebrated the January 1 milestone at the time by paying tribute to her “incredibly sweet and loving parents.”
She said in the caption of a picture of her parents gazing affectionately into each other’s eyes, “Thank you, Mom and Dad, for giving my sisters and me such a secure, happy start to life.”

Jennifer and her father were indeed quite close. The two appeared together in a Capital One commercial from 2016.
“My dad asked for the Jennifer Garner card when I first started working with Capital One, which is such a dad thing to do,” she recalled in the commercial, adding that the phone operator had made fun of them for being related. “He was so proud to tell her, ‘As a matter of fact she is my middle daughter.'”
Jennifer even gave Bill a lovely embrace and exclaimed, “That was good, Dad!” after he appeared in the frame to deliver the famous “What’s in your wallet” slogan for the credit card.
