MD SPCA Extends Helping Hand with Free Pet Supplies for Bridge Collapse Victims
DEBARYLIFE – The supply chain for pets was impacted by the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in addition to that for people.
The Maryland SPCA is trying to assist. To assist pet owners impacted by the collapse in providing provisions for their animal companions, the charity conducted a pet food handout on Sunday in front of their Baltimore headquarters.
Everything was at the drive, including kitty litter, harnesses, and dog and cat food. Greater Good and Chewy contributed the materials. Everything is done in collaboration with the SPCA.
The Community Care and Advocacy Director of the Maryland SPCA, Katie Flory, thinks that such gatherings might lessen the stress that unemployed port workers bear.

“We know the tragedy that happened with the bridge falling really is a huge impact to the Baltimore community, but even a bigger impact to our port workers who we know are out of work,” stated Flory. “We don’t want anyone to ever have to make a decision on whether to pay their electric bill or feed their pets.”
People can donate to the Maryland SPCA for events like this one on April 11 during the organization’s Maryland SPCA Giving Day.
