Minneapolis Neighborhood Shooting Results in 3 Fatalities, Including Officer, Authorities Confirm

DEBARYLIFE – Three people were injured and one police officer, two residents, and the suspected shooter were killed after a gunman opened fire in a Minnesota neighborhood on Thursday afternoon.

According to the Minneapolis Police Department, which spoke with Fox News Digital, on Thursday afternoon, there was an active situation in a residential neighborhood south of the city’s downtown.

Six individuals were shot, including two police officers and four civilians, sources told FOX 9.

At 8:30 p.m., local officials provided an update stating that two citizens and the alleged gunman had passed away. FOX 9 was also informed by law enforcement sources that one of the police officers lost their life in the gunshot.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz expressed gratitude to first responders for keeping the community safe in a statement on X.

“The State Patrol is on the scene in South Minneapolis assisting local law enforcement,” Walz stated. “The State of Minnesota is prepared to offer all required resources. I’m sending prayers to all the first responders who are battling to maintain community safety on the ground.

Although there was no longer a threat to the public following the incident, according to municipal officials as of 8:30 p.m., they are still advising locals to stay away from the area while the investigation is underway.
