Mom Allegedly Tossed 6-month-old Into Trash During Walmart Fight: Police

An arrest has been made in Louisiana after a woman allegedly threw her 6-month-old toddler into a garbage bin during a confrontation at Walmart.

Brionka Benjamin, aged 38, was apprehended and accused of committing a misdemeanor offense of simple violence and a felony offense of cruelty toward minors.

Police were summoned to a reported altercation occurring at the Walmart in Eunice at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 22nd. Upon the arrival of the officers, the altercation had already concluded. Officers examined the store’s video surveillance footage, which purportedly showed Benjamin forcefully placing her son inside the Dumpster and subsequently striking another individual.

“Initially, it was a verbal dispute that escalated into a physical confrontation,” stated Eunice Police Chief Kyle LeBouef. “Upon reviewing the video surveillance footage, we were able to ascertain the sequence of events.”

According to Benjamin, the woman was holding her son when the altercation started. However, she abruptly threw the infant into the bin and began fighting with them.

According to PEOPLE, the suspect purportedly threw her son into the trash to have both of her hands available for fighting.

“You are unaware of the contents within,” he states. “There is a possibility of shattered glass.”

According to him, the baby did not sustain any injuries.

He is unaware of the reason behind the altercation. “We have divergent narratives,” states LeBouef. “One individual expressed their dislike for the way the other individual gazed at them, and the situation escalated from that point onward.”

It is uncertain whether Benjamin has filed pleas or hired legal representation.
