South Carolina Man Charged with MURDER After CONFESSING to Wife’s Shooting

A guy in South Carolina was charged with murder after telling police that he had killed his wife with a gun, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. Fred Falls, 61, of Sumter was also charged with having a weapon during a violent crime, the sheriff’s office said in a news release on Tuesday.

Sources say that Falls called Sumter County dispatch around 6:30 a.m. Sunday and said that he had shot his wife the night before. The sheriff’s office said that the first officer who arrived at the home on North Saint Paul Church Road saw Falls sitting on the porch and held him at gunpoint until more deputies arrived.

Falls were then picked up. The release says that officers found the victim inside the house. The sheriff’s office said she was “lying motionless on the floor” after being shot and killed. There were no other injuries recorded. A spent shell casing and two guns were found by deputies as evidence.

According to the release, authorities are now trying to figure out which of the guns was used. Even though Falls was arrested and confessed, the death is still being looked into. The shooting was described by deputies as an isolated event, and Falls does not have a criminal record.

Deputies are still trying to figure out why the shooting happened. The sheriff’s office said Falls was taken to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center and is still there because his bond was refused.
