NYC Mugging Victim’s Death After Heart Attack Results In Homicide Investigation
DEBARYLIFE – Police say the case has been upgraded to a homicide. The victim of the brutal knifepoint robbery in the Bronx who had a heart attack during the terrifying heist in February has passed away.
After being approached by two thieves at East Kingsbridge Road and the Grand Concourse just before two in the morning on February 18, Edgar Acevedo, 47, suffered a heart arrest. His friend, 39, was also present.
The pair’s wallets were stolen, and police claim that the robbers, who are still at large, made off with roughly $110.
While telling the police about the heist, Acevedo passed out from a heart attack that he had sustained during the mugging. At Montefiore Hospital Medical Center, he was then taken to the intensive care unit.
Uncertainty surrounds whether he was still in the hospital when he passed away on May 5 following “a medical episode.”
Whatever the case, the office of the city’s medical examiner has now declared his death to be a homicide.
The NYPD Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS is the place to report any information regarding the whereabouts of both of the still-unapprehended suspects, according to surveillance footage that investigators published on Wednesday.
It is stated that both suspects are large-framed men.
