Ohio Opens $51 Million Grant Applications for Addiction Prevention and Recovery
The state of Ohio is currently accepting applications for grants totaling $51 million to be used for addiction prevention and recovery.
The awards are going to be distributed by the OneOhio Recovery Foundation. Three large drug distributors settled with the state in 2021, and the foundation was established as a nonprofit organization to distribute the money from the opioid settlement monies.
Under the terms of the agreement, counties and cities in Ohio would receive a total of $808 million, of which the OneOhio Recovery Foundation will be responsible for distributing 55%.
As stated in a press release issued on Thursday, “Our goal is to make this process fully accessible and transparent to encourage the widest possible participation from every corner of Ohio, while also ensuring that the necessary steps are taken across our OneOhio Regions to avoid conflicts of interest in the review process,” said Don Mason, the chair of the foundation’s board of directors.
Starting on April 2nd, applications are being accepted until May 3rd. Through the organization’s online grant site, parties can submit their applications. On Friday, the foundation will host a webinar in which they will explain the application procedure and address any questions that students may have.
It is scheduled that the board of directors of the OneOhio Recovery Foundation will hold its annual meeting on May 8 at 10:30 a.m. in the headquarters of the Ohio Chamber of Commerce.
