Police Find Millions of Dollars’ Worth of Cannabis in Brooklyn Warehouse Bust

DEBARYLIFE – Officers in Brooklyn seized marijuana worth, they say, millions of dollars.
Products that the NYC Sheriff’s Office and officers frequently seize from several illegal smoke shops throughout New York City were discovered at a warehouse on Adelphi Street in Downtown Brooklyn.

After making many arrests inside the warehouse on Friday night in response to an ongoing burglary, the NYPD and the NYC Sheriff’s Office jointly launched a joint investigation and learned about the warehouse operation.

They found evidence of an unlicensed cannabis warehouse that was shipping marijuana from abroad and distributing it to smoking establishments all across the city.

“The money made from the sale of these untested, illegal products is mind-boggling,” stated Maureen Kokeas, Commanding Officer of the NYC Sheriff’s Office. “One little package of edibles is fifty dollars.”

The illicit THC items, valued at millions of dollars, including pre-rolls, candy, and THC flower, all of which were packaged for distribution. Young children are intended to consume candy and smoke marijuana due to the brightly colored package.

“We conducted one of the largest operations against a cannabis distributor to date, seizing millions of dollars worth of products, including edibles, vapes, pre-rolls, and more,” a City Hall spokeswoman said in a statement released on Saturday. “We are grateful for the diligent efforts of the New York City Sheriff’s Office and the NYPD.”

After launching ‘Operation Padlock to Protect,’ we have closed more than 200 illegal smoke shops. Today, we took on a large distributor that was providing these stores with goods that endanger the health and safety of our communities, especially the youth of New York. We’re still looking into the incident.
