Recognizing Excellence: Marci Goulette Honored by Iowa State Education Association
Marci Goulette, a paraprofessional working at the West Liberty Early Learning Center, has been recognized as the Education Support Professional of the Year by the Iowa State Education Association for the year 2024.
The persistent dedication, professional practice, advocacy, and community engagement that she has demonstrated throughout her life have earned her this prestigious prize.
As a brilliant example of the important role that ESPs serve in public education, her accomplishments are a bright example today.
Although the categories of jobs that fall under the category of education support professionals may differ from one school district to the next, some examples of such jobs include paraprofessionals who assist students while they are in the classroom, workers in the food service and custodial departments, drivers of transportation and buses, and other individuals who play important roles within the school community.
As part of her job, Goulette is responsible for giving additional help to students. She approaches this responsibility with a pleasant, sympathetic, and patient attitude, which has gained her respect among her coworkers and also among the families of the children.
Her efforts contribute to the kids she works with, both in terms of their academic development and their personal development. In addition to this, she works in conjunction with teachers, other paraprofessionals, and administrators to cultivate an atmosphere that is favorable to learning throughout the entire student body.
She is the president of the local ESP association, and she looks out for the interests of her coworkers by advocating for fair treatment.
“Education support specialists such as Marci contribute to the improvement of our learning environments and communities, and they play an important part in the lives of both the education team and the students. According to Mike Beranek, President of the International Society of Employers (ISEA), “The ISEA is proud to celebrate Marci for her hard work and dedication to her profession.”
At the ISEA Delegate Assembly, which took place in West Des Moines on April 13, Goulette was presented with an honor.
The Iowa State Education Association is a stalwart champion for educators working in pre-kindergarten through middle school, education support professionals, community college teachers, professionals working for the Area Education Agency, retired educators, and others who are interested in becoming educators. We are committed to increasing the quality of public education by putting kids at the center of our efforts, and we have contracts that cover more than 50,000 employees.
The fact that we are advocates for the rights and respect of education professionals is something that they take great pride in.
