According to the authorities, a woman from Indiana has been charged with neglect after the body of her stepdaughter, who was five years old, was discovered on the bank of a river.

It has been determined that Deonna Hollingsworth, who is 26 years old, is responsible for the death of the kid.

The caller reported a youngster who had been playing in the Wabash River at Kimmel Park in Vincennes, Indiana, before going missing, according to WFIE. Knox County officials stated that they received a 911 call at approximately 2:40 p.m. on Thursday. The caller indicated that the child had gone missing.

According to the Department of Natural Resources of the state, some agencies swiftly arrived at the river and searched for the girl using a variety of tools, including dive teams, sonar, and boats.

At approximately 7:15 p.m., divers discovered the body of the girl in the vicinity of the park’s boat ramp.

During the time that the child was going missing in the river, Hollingsworth, who was the child’s stepmother, was caring for her. “We felt there was sufficient evidence to show that the child was in her care at the time and that the child was placed in a situation that endangered her life or health,” said Joe Haywood, an officer with the Department of Natural Resources for the United States Department of Agriculture.
