Tragic Accident on U.S. 178: Passenger Killed in Ford F-150 Collision
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a collision that occurred on Saturday resulted in the death of one individual and sent three others to healthcare facilities.
According to Lance Cpl. Lena Butler, the collision between two vehicles took place in Lexington County at approximately two o’clock in the pm.
Butler stated that a Ford F-150 pickup truck from the year 2003 was traveling west on U.S. 178 when it collided with another Ford F-150 from the year 1997 that was traveling southbound on D.E. Clark Road in the Pelion area. At the site, Butler reported that a passenger in the 2003 pickup truck had passed away.

The passenger in question has not been identified to the general public by the Lexington County Coroner’s Office.
It has been reported by Butler that the driver of the 2003 pickup truck, as well as the driver of the 1997 vehicle and a passenger in the truck, sustained injuries and were sent to a nearby hospital. It was not possible to obtain any additional information regarding their conditions. Nothing was said about whether or not any of the individuals who were involved in the collision were wearing seat belts.

There was no information provided on the cause of the collision between the pickup trucks; however, Butler stated that the Highway Patrol is continuing their investigation into the accident.
