Two Romanian Nationals Arrested in Louisiana for Statewide Credit Card Fraud: “What’s Their Story?”
RAYNE, LA. – The Rayne Police Department has detained two Romanian nationals as part of a statewide fraud investigation.
Rayne police stated they stopped a 2022 Toyota 4Runner on I-10 West at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday. The traffic stop was in response to a BOLO notice issued for a vehicle involved in an ongoing investigation into credit card skimming activity at multiple checkout points across the state.
During the stop, officers reported finding approximately 30 payment cards with reloaded stolen credit card details hidden in a compartment in the vehicle’s dash. Further inquiry revealed that the men’s Italian and Danish identifications were fraudulent. The individuals, who were initially identified as Johan Skov and Martin Rasmussen, are believed to be Romanian nationals living in the United States illegally. They were both arrested and are currently being jailed without bond.
Authorities believe they may have booked a room in the Acadiana area. If you have any information about their visit or related activity, please call Detective Richard Gray at 337-393-2930 or email [email protected].
