Lake surface temperatures taken from #NOAA20 VIIRS on Thursday afternoon showed a peculiar ring of warm water in southern Lake Michigan. Identify the probable cause of it.
According to the Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS) blog of NOAA, the temperature of the ring observed in the southern part of Lake Michigan is around 10oF (50oF) higher than the 40oF measured temperature of the lake. Although at first glance it can seem like a supernatural event, science—a distinct form of magic—is the true cause.

This warm spot’s cause is rather special. Further imaging rapidly refuted the researchers’ initial theory that it was a reflection of solar light. Eventually, they were able to attribute the anomaly to warm breezes heating the water’s surface, which had previously happened.
Therefore, even though there isn’t hard proof of a Loch Ness Monster or a “Bermuda Triangle” in Lake Michigan, the Great Lakes nonetheless include a Triangle.
The Triangle of the Great Lakes
Although the Great Lakes Triangle is not as well-known as the Bermuda Triangle, Ludington, Benton Habor, and Manitowoc, Wisconsin, have reported seeing unexplained activity around Lake Michigan.
This anomalous area of Lake Michigan is supported by shipwrecks, magnetic declination that throws off sailor’s compasses, and lost airplanes such as the notorious NWA Flight 2501, which occurred in 1950 and resulted in the lives of 58 people.
