Tragic Discovery! MAN FOUND DEAD on Motorcycle in BIRMINGHAM, Homicide Investigation Launched

A man’s body was discovered in the North Titusville neighborhood of Birmingham, and a homicide inquiry has been opened as a result.

According to the Birmingham Police Department, the incident took place on Wednesday afternoon at the meeting point of Center Street North and 1st Avenue South. According to the police, neighbors of the area reported hearing gunshots and dialing 911. A man was found slumped over on a motorcycle by the officers who arrived at the site; paramedics also pronounced him dead at the scene.

After further investigation, the office of the coroner determined that he was Obray Carter, 39 years old, from Birmingham. At the time that WVTM 13 got at the scene, the motorcycle was still parked at the junction, where it had been stationary at the stop sign.

“When someone shot the victim, he was either stopped on his motorcycle or in the process of riding his motorcycle,” said Officer Truman Fitzgerald. “The victim was doing either of these things.”

“And from everything that we’ve observed and collected, we believe the victim was targeted.” No one is currently being held in custody. The police have stated that in order for them to make progress in the investigation, it will be necessary for someone to bring themselves forward.

The Birmingham Police Department can be reached at (205) 254-1764, and Crime Stoppers can be reached at (205) 254-7777. The police are requesting that anyone who may have information to help them.
