Daring Daylight Crime! 25-year-old Arrested for Attempted Kidnapping and Stalking in Garfield
A man who is 25 years old and lives in the city has been taken into custody on allegations of attempting to kidnap a woman while she was strolling and stalking her.
The Garfield Police Department made contact with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office on May 16, which was the day that Michael Hernandez was brought into custody by the police. The female victim stated that on May 8, she was confronted by an unknown person who attempted to remove her from the sidewalk. The male grabbed her by the neck and held her backpack.
It was reported by the police that an “unknown good Samaritan” came to the man’s aid, but the man fled the scene.

It was discovered by the investigators that Hernandez was the perpetrator of the crime and that he had started following the victim in April.

Hernandez was taken into custody with the assistance of the Bergen County Regional SWAT Team, and he was charged with attempted kidnapping in the second degree and stalking in the fourth-degree charges.

There have been several counts of criminal sexual contact brought against him in the past, according to the documents kept in the Bergen County jail.
Hernandez was arrested in December of 2022 and charged with simple assault, false imprisonment, and harassment. He was also charged with false imprisonment.
