Grandfather of 14-Year-Old Murder Victim Urges Cooperation With Authorities – Bad News

DEBARYLIFE – To help identify individuals guilty of shooting and killing a 14-year-old in Tampa, investigators with the Tampa Police Department are requesting information.

On Wednesday, April 17, authorities were called in regarding gunfire in the vicinity of the 1400 block of W. Busch Blvd. in Tampa. About 3:30 p.m., it happened.

Jevario Buie, 14, had gunshot wounds when he was discovered by police. The wounds he received caused his death.

Many people are aware of what happened to his grandson, according to Michael Baldwin, Sr., his grandpa.

When it comes to today’s youngsters, words are scarce. All I know is that several children saw this and were scared to come out for fear of what might happen. They need to understand that their quiet will eventually consume them. “There is a better way to deal with that fear because it will eat them alive,” Baldwin remarked.

In addition to being quiet, Baldwin claimed that his grandson enjoyed playing video games and football.

“Never smoked a cigarette, never drank any alcohol, never shot a gun, never was in a gang, never had any police contact, none of those things that can sometimes happen in black and brown, poor communities,” Baldwin remarked.

I was inconsolable. I could feel our family’s aspirations and dreams being taken away instantly. “He is our eldest boy,” he clarified.

For decades, Baldwin was a prisoner. He oversees juvenile initiatives and works with ex-offenders.

Baldwin declared that although he pardoned those at fault, they still had to answer for their actions.

“The thing I want to say to the people who shot my grandson to death is…They don’t need to come clean since I’ve already forgiven them. I’m prepared to walk with them as they navigate the criminal justice system, but it must happen,” Baldwin remarked.
