Memphis Driveway Shooting: Man Charged With Aggravated Assault, Victim In Critical Condition

DEBARYLIFE – One guy was injured and another faces serious charges after a heated dispute in Frayser turned into a scary threat and shooting.

Following a gunshot incident on Boone Street, Memphis Police have taken into custody 37-year-old Davian Walker. According to FOX13 Memphis, the altercation started as a calm driveway moment.

Authorities claim that the fight started when Walker, who knew the couple, approached a woman and her boyfriend while they were relaxing outside their house. The conversation quickly soured and escalated into a heated argument in which Walker threatened the man in the shadow of the night, saying in a grim voice,

“I’m going to make your mother cry,” and then shot the man in the thigh. The victim, not willing to give in to the fear, then pulled out his gun in retaliation, as reported by Ground News.

Following a gunfight that left the male victim who was not identified seriously injured, his girlfriend identified Walker as the attacker.

As WREG News Channel 3 confirmed, shortly after midnight, officers responding to the incident found themselves at the shattered doorstep of violence—a doorstep that, up until that point, had stood as a threshold to the unassuming lives behind it, changing forever in the wake of shots fired into the darkness.

In response to the violence that transpired under the watchful eye of a Memphis night and a community left seeking comfort amid the sounds of gunfire and the stark reality that violence knows no bounds, whether it be in the privacy of one’s driveway or the open daylight of the public square, Walker is scheduled to appear in court on Friday morning.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of a social ill in which the safety of the public and the privacy of one’s home can occasionally collide with the ghosts of hopelessness and revenge that spookily lurk just beneath the surface of our otherwise serene society.
