Police Press Charges Against Miami Gang Associate for Weapon, Drug, and Identity Crimes

DEBARYLIFE – A man in Miami-Dade faces six charges in two cases.

Miami: Davon Clyde Young was a teenager when cops in Miami assumed he was a member of a gang. Before turning 19 years old, he was under house arrest, and after turning 21, he was placed on probation.

Young, now 23 years old, was described as a “documented” gang member by an undercover officer from the Miami Police Department’s gang intelligence section in testimony given on Tuesday in Miami-Dade County court.

Young was facing six accusations in two ongoing cases. He has a “SPAZZ” tattoo on his neck. The investigator revealed his violent past to Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Mindy S. Glazer in court.

Shortly after 3:35 a.m. on March 22, Miami-Dade jail officers booked him at the Turner Guilford Knight Jail Center. Detectives claimed he had a machine gun, a rifle, and a short-barrel shotgun in addition to peddling crack cocaine.

In one instance, Young was charged with having a machine gun, possessing a handgun and ammunition as a delinquent, and possessing a controlled substance with the intent to sell.

Detectives had investigated Young’s home before he appeared in court on Tuesday. They claimed to have found ammunition, ecstasy for sale, and identifications that didn’t belong to him.

In that instance, Young was additionally charged with MDMA trafficking, unlawful possession of five or more identifications, and possession of a handgun and ammunition by a criminal.

Glazer mandated a Nebbia hearing and set Young’s bond at $37,500. Young must now prove to the court that he is not using the proceeds of his crimes as payment.
