Proposed State Budget Includes $100M for Downtown Louisville Revitalization
LOUISVILLE, Kentucky — Kentucky’s lawmakers passed the state’s two main budget bills this week.
House Bill 1 takes money from the Budget Reserve Trust Fund Account and puts it into the general fund for one-time spending projects. This bill gives money to help improve downtown Louisville.
The bill would give $50,000,000 to projects in downtown Louisville for the next two years if it is signed by the governor. These projects would focus on the Belvedere, the Community Care Campus, the LOUMED Campus, the Louisville Gardens, the Downtown Vacant Lot Revitalization, and the Butchertown Sports District.
This comes right after the Louisville Downtown Partnership released its 10-year plan to make downtown better as well.

“I feel like there’s so much excitement and we’re on the precipice of, like, so much huge things happening,” she added. “I believe there is enough speed. I believe people are interested and thrilled, which is great.
The budget for the state is now on its way to the governor.
